Dodd takes silver in double mini-trampoline to close off 2017 World Age Group Competitions for Canada

“It feels really good to win a medal at my second World Age Group Competition, and it felt really good just to land all of my passes and to be really happy with all of my passes, and to see all of my fellow competitors do really well,’ said Dodd who also competed in individual trampoline and finished 14th overall.

Dodd entered the finals in second position, and laid down two solid passes to maintain his position behind Timofei Lazutin of Russia who took the gold medal. Egor Latukhin of Russia took the bronze, with Canadian Kieran Lupish of Grimsby, ON finishing just off the podium in fourth.

Canadians Adam Stannard finished 13th and Nolan Zurek 16th in the qualification rounds.

Canada’s other finalist for the day was Rachel Tam of Toronto, ON in the 17-21 age group of women’s individual trampoline. Tam qualified to the finals in fifth and maintained that position to finish fifth with a final score of 51.220. Tam was the lone Canadian athlete at the World Age Group Competitions to have also competed at the World Championships the week before where unfortunately an injury to her ankle held her back from competing in synchronized trampoline with Samantha Smith of Toronto, ON.

Kalena Soehn of Red Deer, AB finished 16th overall in the same category.

In the men’s 17-21 age group for individual trampoline, Benjamin Lagacé from St-Mathieu-de-Beloeil, QC finished 17th, Zachary Blakely of Red Deer, AB finished 27th, Steven Woolley of Guelph, ON finished 39th, and David Johnston of Mississauga, ON finished 65th.
