Mia St-Pierre of Mercier, QC captured the bronze medal in the women’s all-around competition and advanced to all four apparatus finals. St-Pierre’s all-around score of 50.650 was just .050 points back of the silver medal and included a score of 13.500 on vault, 12.450 on uneven bars, 12.050 on beam, and 12.650 on floor.
“We’re really happy with Mia’s performance and her progression,” said St-Pierre’s coach Jacinthe Émard. “It’s an incredible experience for her to be able to compete in four apparatus finals.”
In the apparatus finals, St-Pierre won her second medal of the weekend, a bronze medal on vault with a score of 13.433 points. She also finished sixth on floor, eighth on beam, and ninth on uneven bars.
“I’m really proud of my performances since this is the first time I’ve competed in all four finals,” said St-Pierre following competition. “I really enjoyed my experience! I’m pleased with my progression and the way I was able to handle the stress of competition.”
St-Pierre’s national team teammate Rachael Riley of Sarnia, ON took home the silver medal in the vault final with a score of 13.683 points.
“I’m super proud of Rachael as she’s competed as a junior against senior athletes in the Elite gym Massilia and placed second in the vault finals winning the silver medal,” said Riley’s coach Liz Brubaker. “It’s a great start to our competitive season. We are now heading to Belgium to compete in the top gym competition. We are looking forward to this experience to prepare us for this competitive year.”
