Spence finishes tenth in all-around final at Youth Olympic Games

Spence scored 49.132 points, which included: 13.900 on vault, 12.666 on uneven bars, 10.900 on beam, and 11.666 on floor. Giorgia Villa of Italy captured the gold medal.

“It wasn’t my best day, but I’m proud to be in the top ten of such an amazing field of gymnast,” said Spence following competition. “I’m looking forward to the energy of the crowd for the apparatus finals and being able to perform my routines one last time.”

Emma’s score of 51.015 points in the all-around qualification competition set a new Canadian record.

“We’ll analyze and learn from today, and bring our full energy into the rest of our finals,” said Emma’s coach Denis Vachon. “Although it’s not the result Emma would have wanted today, setting a new Canadian record earlier this week is something to be incredibly proud of.”

Spence will now look to compete in the vault final on Saturday before competing in the beam and floor finals on Monday.

Félix Dolci of Laval, QC will also compete on Saturday afternoon in the men’s floor final.
