Silver medal for Dolci on rings at Youth Olympic Games

“I’m incredibly proud to have won a medal at the Youth Olympic Games,” said Dolci sporting the silver medal around his neck. “I worked really hard this year on rings and my ability to be consistent in the execution helped me get to the podium.”

Dolci had the highest execution score of the final (8.866) and scored 13.366 points overall to finish less than .200 points back of Takeru Kitazono of Japan, who took home gold.

“For the rings final, I’m really happy with how Félix performed today,” said Dolci’s coach Adrian Balan. “He had his best rings routine since we got here and put the pressure on the other gymnasts. This medal is well earned and I want to thank everyone who worked with Félix to get to this moment.”

Dolci also competed in the vault final, finishing seventh overall with a score of 13.545 points.

“I’m really proud of the progress he’s made on vault considering he had a major injury on both his ankles this past March and wasn’t able to train on floor and vault for many months,” said Balan. “This is the first competition since his injuries that he’s been able to execute two consecutive vaults in competition.”

On Monday, Dolci will compete on high bar in his last apparatus final of the Games. Bronze medalist on vault, Emma Spence of Cambridge, ON will compete in the beam and floor apparatus finals.
