Double silver for Canada on day one of artistic Jr. Pan American Championships

Zoe Allaire-Bourgie finished second in the all-around competition with a score of 53.450 to take home the silver medal and qualify Canada a spot at the 2018 Youth Olympic Games in October. Allaire-Bourgie had strong routines throughout the entire day and qualified for the beam, floor, and uneven bars apparatus finals.

“I’m proud of myself today and for having a competition without mistakes and staying mentally strong,” said Allaire-Bourgie following competition.

In the women’s team competition, Allaire-Bourgie was joined by teammates Emma Spence, Imogen Paterson, and Mia St. Pierre to secure the silver medal, just behind the United States with a score of 153.250.

Spence, who finished fourth in the all-around competition, will also compete in the beam final while Paterson will compete in the vault and uneven bars final. St. Pierre will compete in the vault and floor finals: “Today was a great experience and I really appreciated the whole team experience,” said St. Pierre. “I’m proud of everything I contributed to the team.”

The women’s apparatus finals will take place on Friday. On Thursday, the Canadian men will take centre stage in the all-around and team competitions.
