Silver medal for Canada at 2018 Senior Pan American Artistic Gymnastics Championships

Joining Cournoyer on the men’s team was Zach Clay (Chilliwack, BC), Cory Paterson (Montreal, QC), Darren Wong (Vancouver, BC), and Samuel Zakutney (Ottawa, ON). The men finished fourth in the team competition and advanced to Sunday’s event final.

“Competing yesterday was a lot of fun,” said Cournoyer. “We competed really well as a team and supported each other the entire time. I had six strong routines and it paid off at the end of the day, which is awesome!”

In the women’s competition, Jade Chrobok of Toronto, ON finished seventh in the all-around competition with 51.600 points. The women’s team, made up of Chrobok, Laurie Denommée (Laval, QC), Haley de Jong (Port Coquitlam, BC), Sophie Marois (Île Bizard, QC), and Ana Padurariu (Whitby, ON), finished sixth overall and also advanced to Sunday’s team final.

“The momentum we had going through the first three events was great, we were really supporting each other and had some strong routines,” said Chrobok. “Tomorrow we’re looking to improve on bars as a team overall and keeping our energy up and continuing to support each other.”

The men’s team final will take place Sunday morning, while the women’s team will take to the floor Sunday afternoon.
