Ellen MacPherson announced as Director, Safe Sport

MacPherson, who is currently completing her PhD in Exercise Sciences at the University of Toronto, has advanced knowledge and experience with respect to Safe Sport. This includes graduate coursework and research which focuses on maltreatment in sport, international athlete protection initiatives, athlete welfare, and positive youth development. She has designed and delivered presentations at national and international conferences, and recently attended the first Safe Sport International conference this past spring in Madrid. Additionally, Ellen has worked with the Coaching Association of Canada, the Canadian Association for the Advancement of Women and Sport and Physical Activity, and Gymnastics Canada on several other projects.

MacPherson’s education and knowledge, as well as her strong communication, project management, and problem solving skills, will help GCG develop our Safe Sport Framework, which focuses on a sport environment that is safe, healthy, and inclusive for athletes, coaches, judges, and sports administrators across the country.
