“We are looking forward to building off our recent international success and solidifying ourselves as one of the leading nations in the sport. These World Championships will give the athletes the opportunity to perfect their routines and set the stage as we enter into an Olympic selection year,” said Karen Cockburn, national team director for trampoline gymnastics at Gymnastics Canada.
The team is highlighted by current 2-time Olympic champion in individual trampoline, Rosie MacLennan from King City, ON who has her sights set on competing at Tokyo 2020. The team also includes Sophiane Méthot from La Prairie, QC who won a bronze medal in women’s trampoline at last year’s World Championships in Sofia, Bulgaria, and Jérémy Chartier from Montréal, QC who recently carried the flag for Team Canada at the 2018 Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires. The team also includes 2017 World Games team member Jon Schwaiger of Ancaster, ON who will compete in both DMT and tumbling.
