Announcing the Canadian team for the 2019 Trampoline Gymnastics World Age Group Competition

“The World Age Group Competition gives our junior athletes the opportunity to compete against the best in the world in their age category. Competing in the Olympic venue for Tokyo 2020 is a unique opportunity and we hope it will inspire our next generation of athletes,” said Karen Cockburn, national team director for trampoline gymnastics at Gymnastics Canada. “Canada will be well represented across all events and our athletes are looking forward to performing on the world stage.”

Athletes to watch out for include Rachel Tam of Toronto, ON, who captured a bronze medal in the girls 17-21 trampoline category last year, and who will be competing in synchronized trampoline at the World Championships that take place the weekend before this competition in the same venue, and Kieran Lupish of Burlington, ON, and Gavin Dodd of Kamloops, BC who captured the silver and bronze medals respectively in the boys 15-16 double mini-trampoline (DMT) category at last month’s International Age Group Competition held in Valladolid, Spain. Antonio Fernandes of Calgary, AB who captured a silver medal at that same competition in Spain in the 17-21 men’s DMT category will also be one to watch.

The selection process for the WAGC team included the 2019 Elite Canada held in Calgary, AB in May and the 2019 Canadian Championships in Oshawa, ON this past July.
