Team Quebec, who won gold in the team competition on Sunday night ended up with four athletes in the top-6, with Gabriele Deslauriers finishing fifth, and Charlotte Chagnon finishing sixth.
“I can hardly believe it, this has always been a goal of mine, I have been working four years for this – I’m still in shock; this is definitely mission accomplished,” said Lorange who scored a total of 37.787 with top score on the uneven bars, beam, and floor to take the gold. “We had several training camps leading up to the Games and we had a great team dynamic and all the girls contributed to the great team spirit leading up to and including the competitions so far.”
Morin, who was the top qualifier for the all-around competition, finished the day with 37.574 points, with her best performance on the uneven bars.
“The competition was really close and Chloé is my friend so I am proud of her. We’re both from Quebec so I am happy that we both took our place and ended up on top,” said Morin. “I worked to stay focused, one event at a time, and I feel I competed really well on what I was able to do.”
Scharf started the evening off with the top score on vault, and then had strong performances on all four apparatus to finish with a total score of 37.287.
“I’m super proud that my hard work paid off,” said Scharf. “My highlight was definitely hitting beam two days in a row. I’ve been struggling with it a bit this year, so hitting it two days in a row was a really big accomplishment for me.”
Tomorrow will feature the men’s all-around final starting with the warm-up at 4pm. The artistic gymnastics competition will then wrap-up on Thursday with apparatus finals for both the men and the women.
