MacLennan makes history – defends trampoline gold medal in Rio
RIO DE JANEIRO, BRA (August 12, 2016) – History was made at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games today, as Rosie MacLennan from King City, ON became the first ever trampoline athlete to defend her Olympic title. She also becomes the first Canadian Summer Olympian in any discipline to win back-to-back gold medals.
Black finishes historic 5th in all-around final at Rio Olympic Games
RIO DE JANEIRO, BRA (August 11, 2016) – Ellie Black of Halifax, NS finished her Rio 2016 Olympic Games on a high note, finishing 5th place overall in the all-around final, Canada’s best-ever result in the event at the Olympic Games. The previous best Canadian result was a 13th place in the 1984 Olympic Games by Bonnie Wittmeier.
Black and Onyhsko qualify for women’s all-around final while team does not advance
RIO DE JANEIRO, BRA (August 7, 2016) – Isabela Onyshko of Brandon, MB and Ellie Black of Halifax, NS led team Canada to a 9th place finish in the qualification round of women’s artistic gymnastics Sunday in Rio de Janeiro, narrowly missing advancing to the team finals. Both did advance to the individual all-around final finishing 10th and 13th respectively.
Scott Morgan kicks off Olympic gymnastics competition in Rio
RIO DE JANEIRO, BRA (August 6, 2016) – North Vancouver, BC’s Scott Morgan knew he had a tough fight ahead of him at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro today — starting first, in the first subdivision, in the first rotation, on his best event – floor. Despite no obvious errors, he scored a 14.966 which put him in 18th position, and out of the apparatus finals.
Bezzoubenko soars to 12th place overall finish at Baku World Cup
BAKU, AZE (July 24, 2016) –Patricia Bezzoubenko of Toronto, ON had her best performance of the season at the World Cup in Baku, Azerbaijan this weekend qualifying for the finals in clubs and finishing 12th in the all-around with a score of 70.100.

Rosie MacLennan named as Rio 2016 Team Canada Flag Bearer
(COC RELEASE) Thursday, July 21, 2016 — OTTAWA — On Thursday, the Canadian Olympic Committee (COC) and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced that two-time Olympian and London 2012 gold medallist, Rosie MacLennan, would lead Team Canada into the Rio 2016 Olympic Games Opening Ceremony. The announcement took place at an event in Ottawa on Parliament Hill.
