Woo captures bronze on vault at Osijek Challenge Cup

Following a successful qualification round, Woo advanced to three finals including the beam, vault, and uneven bars where she placed third on the vault with a score of 13.638. Woo narrowly missed the podium on the bars and beam, finishing in fourth place on both apparatuses with scores of 13.725 and 14.150 respectively.

“Rose had a great performance in all her finals,” said coach Michel Charron. “There was a lot of pressure for her to perform well at her first challenge cup and she did not disappoint.”

Woo finished behind Great Britain powerhouse Elissa Downie, who won gold on every apparatus including a phenomenal 14.950 score on the beam.

“Competing against such fierce athletes was a great experience for Rose,” Charron added. “She will now be able to use the experience of competing against the top British and Russian gymnasts to her advantage in the future. It was fantastic preparation for the Canadian Championships.”

“I’m happy with my performances this weekend,” said Woo. “Not all of my passes were great, but I worked hard and am proud that I ended up on the podium with a bronze medal.”

Fellow Canadian gymnast Hélody Cyrenne of Beauharnois, QC also put her best performances forward in Croatia this weekend and advanced to the vault final where she finished in seventh place with a score of 13.000.
