OTTAWA, ON (November 29, 2022) – From November 23 to 26, Team Canada competed in the FIG Trampoline Gymnastics World Age Group Competitions in Sofia, Bulgaria. Gymnastics Canada is pleased to share key results from the competition. Team Canada was composed of 49 athletes representing 26 clubs from across the country.

A silver medal for Brooklyn Lee-McMeeken and a bronze medal for Jared Matthews at the 2022 Trampoline Gymnastics World Age Group Competitions in Sofia Brooklyn-Lee McMeeken (Club Aviva, BC) was the first to capture a medal, with her second-place finish in double-mini trampoline in the women’s 13-14 age group. Lee-McMeeken finished with a final score of 24.000 in the finals. “I’m just really happy to be representing my country,” shared the silver medallist following the competition. “I enjoyed getting my silver medal, but my favourite part of the competition has been getting to meet people from other countries who are also competing.” In the tumbling competition, Jared Matthews (Quinte Bay Gymnastics, ON) claimed the bronze medal in the men’s 15-16 age group. Matthews finished with a final score of 19.800 behind two gymnasts from Great Britain. “Now that I’ve competed in my second World Age Group competition, it feels great to be coming home with a bronze medal,” shared Matthews after his bronze medal finish. “I was excited to push myself, set my expectations high and I think I did that and I’m happy about it.” In addition to two medal performances, Team Canada appeared in the finals four additional times. In the women’s double-mini trampoline events, Claire Jackson (Pegasus Gymnastics, AB) finished in 6th place in the 15-16 age group, while Kristina Dodd (KGTC, BC) finished in 8th place in the 17-21 age group. In the men’s synchronized trampoline events, Nathan Levvasseur (Dynamix,QC) and Etienne Cloutier (Dynamix, QC) finished in 5th place in the 17-21 age group, while Luke D’Hondt (Calgary Gymnastics Centre, AB) and Alexan Adjemian (Virtuose, QC) captured 8th place in the 15-16 age group.
