Martin Sanio announced as National Events Manager for Gymnastics Canada
OTTAWA, ON (June 7, 2021) – Gymnastics Canada is pleased to announce that Martin Sanio joined the GymCan team today as our new National Events Manager. Sanio joins GymCan from the Laval Regional Soccer Association where he was the Director of Soccer Operations for the last two years.
Chartier finishes 12th at last chance Olympic qualifier in trampoline gymnastics
BRESCIA, ITA (June 5, 2021) – Jérémy Chartier of Montreal, QC laid down two solid routines at a World Cup Trampoline competition in Brescia, ITA on Friday to finish the competition ranked 12th overall with a score of 108.550, which puts him in contention to secure a qualifying spot in men’s trampoline for Canada at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games this July.
Gymnastics Canada will not send teams to 2021 Pan American Gymnastics Championships
OTTAWA, ON (May 7, 2021) – Gymnastics Canada has made the very difficult decision to not enter teams in the upcoming 2021 Senior Pan American Championships being held in Rio de Janeiro, BRA between June 4-13, 2021 and the 2021 Junior Pan American Championships slated for Guadalajara, MEX (artistic), and Guatemala City, GUA (rhythmic) due to health and safety concerns resulting from the COVID-19 global pandemic.
Black dominates 2021 Elite Canada Virtual Competition Series in lead-up to Tokyo
OTTAWA, ON (May 6, 2021) – The 2021 Elite Canada Virtual Competition Series in Women’s Artistic Gymnastics wrapped up this past weekend with Ellie Black from Halifax, NS taking the senior all-around title following the three rounds of virtual competitions. Aurélie Tran from Repentigny, QC captured the junior all-around title.
Gymnastics Canada update regarding the David and Elizabeth Brubaker discipline hearing
OTTAWA, ON (April 13, 2021) – Gymnastics Canada (GymCan) acknowledges the receipt of a formal Notice of Appeal from David (Dave) Brubaker and Elizabeth (Liz) Brubaker on Monday, March 29, 2021. This appeal is related to the decision by a discipline panel, received on March 12, 2021, that determined that both coaches did breach the relevant organizational Code of Ethics and Conduct policies that were in effect during the time frame when the events in the various complaints received occurred (1996-2017).
Carmel Kallemaa captures first senior all-around title at 2021 Virtual Elite Canada in Rhythmic Gymnastics
OTTAWA, ON (March 31, 2021) – The 2021 Elite Canada in Rhythmic Gymnastics wrapped up this past weekend with Carmel Kallemaa from Glimmer Athletic Club taking the senior all-around title and Grace Lodoen from Silhouettes of York RGC taking the junior all-around title.

OTTAWA, ON (March 19, 2021) – Gymnastics Canada (GymCan) acknowledges and accepts the decision reached by an independent discipline panel regarding formal written complaints received by GymCan against two elite coaches – David (Dave) Brubaker and Elizabeth (Liz) Brubaker. The decision was received by all parties on Friday, March 12th, 2021.
Tyndall and Clay highlight 2021 Men’s Artistic Gymnastics Virtual Elite Canada
OTTAWA, ON (February 25, 2021) – The 2021 Elite Canada in Men’s Artistic Gymnastics wrapped up this past weekend with Jesse Tyndall from Taiso Gymnastics in Saskatchewan taking the senior all-around title following two ‘days’ of competition. Zachary Clay from Twisters Gymnastics in BC had the top senior one-day all-around score.
