Statement on Team Canada decision
The Canadian Olympic Committee (COC) announced yesterday that Canada will not compete at the 2020 Olympic Games if they are held in July/August 2020. Gymnastics Canada is a proud member of the COC and stands by the efforts of its leadership to properly protect all members of our collective sporting community and their extended families and peers during this difficult time.

Canadian national team gymnasts capture eight medals at 2020 International Gymnix
MONTREAL, QC (March 8, 2020) – Canadian senior and junior national team gymnasts captured eight medals over the course of the weekend at the 2020 International Gymnix competition in Montreal, QC including team bronze medals in both the Senior and Junior Cups, and a bronze for Audrey Rousseau of La Prairie, QC in the senior all-around competition on Friday night.
Black is back and finishes fifth at 2020 American Cup; Cournoyer 10th
MILWAUKEE, USA (March 7, 2020) – Ellie Black of Halifax, NS made her return to international competition on Saturday at the 2020 American Cup in Milwaukee, USA, finishing 5th overall, while René Cournoyer of Repentigny, QC made his American Cup debut, finishing 10th overall in the men’s competition.
Uchida repeats as senior all-around champion at 2020 Elite Canada in Rhythmic Gymnastics
BURNBAY, BC (February 16, 2020) – Katherine Uchida from Jusco RGC in Toronto, ON captured her second consecutive senior all-around Elite Canada title on Sunday at Fortius Sport & Health in Burnaby, BC, while her Jusco RGC clubmate Christina Savchenko swept the Junior division, capturing gold in all apparatus and in the all-around.
Smith captures bronze in women’s trampoline at Baku World Cup
BAKU, AZE (February 16, 2020) – Samantha Smith of Vancouver, BC captured a bronze medal in women’s trampoline at a World Cup competition in Baku, AZE on Sunday capturing vital Olympic qualification points for Canada. Xueying Zhu of China won gold, while her teammate Lingling Liu took silver. Jérémy Chartier of Montreal and Keegan Soehn of Red Deer, AB finished fifth in the men’s synchronized trampoline final.
Uchida & Huseynov lead after qualifiers at 2020 Elite Canada Rhythmic
BURNABY, BC (February 15, 2020) – Katherine Uchida from Jusco RGC in Toronto, ON leads the senior field after the first two days of competition at the 2020 Elite Canada in Rhythmic Gymnastics competition at Fortius Sport & Health in Burnaby, BC, while her Jusco teammate Emily Huseynov leads the junior competition.
Padurariu repeats as Senior All-around Champion at 2020 Elite Canada in Women’s Artistic Gymnastics
CALGARY, AB (February 9, 2020) – Ana Padurariu from Gemini Gymnastics in Oshawa, ON held on to her Elite Canada all-around champion crown on Sunday at the Genesis Centre in Calgary, AB as she topped the podium in the senior division for the second year in a row at the Elite Canada in Women’s Artistic Gymnastics competition. Maya Zonneveld from Revolution Gymnastics in Waterloo, ON took the junior all-around title.
