Gymnastics Canada announces involvement in LGBTQI2S Sport Inclusion Pilot Project
OTTAWA, ON (Sept. 13, 2017) — Gymnastics Canada (GCG) is proud to announce our involvement in the LGBTQI2S (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, and two spirited) Sport Inclusion Task Force pilot project. GCG has created a LGBTQI2S Working Group to lead the pilot and to begin to address LGBTQI2S issues in Canadian gymnastics. This working group is committed to engaging experienced voices both inside and outside of the gymnastics community to identify systemic challenges and to create an action plan to address barriers to participation by any who identify as LGBTIQS across all disciplines and levels of gymnastics in Canada. The goal of this work is to build awareness and understanding to support inclusivity at national, provincial, and club levels.
